Gutter scope
Downspouts, guards, and repairs
Optional financing
This is a planning estimate, not a contractor bid, drainage design, code review, warranty opinion, or lender quote.

Payment is principal and interest only. Contractor financing fees, promotional periods, lien position, underwriting, draw timing, and home equity loan or HELOC terms can change the real cost.
Methodology notes
Gutter footage
The calculator multiplies entered linear feet by material and labor unit costs, then applies the selected style and height complexity factors.
Project budget
Downspouts, gutter guards, old gutter removal, permits, disposal, and fascia or soffit repairs are added separately before contingency.
Cash and financing
Available project cash excludes the cash holdback. If no planned financing is entered, the calculator estimates a payment for the remaining shortfall.
Gutter replacement caveats
- Contractor quotes depend on local labor, material gauge, seamless equipment, access, roofline complexity, stories, staging, corners, disposal, permits, and warranty scope.
- Fascia rot, soffit damage, failed drip edge, soft rafter tails, hidden leaks, and old fastener damage can raise the budget after removal starts.
- Drainage and grading are part of the real system. A new gutter can still cause foundation, basement, siding, or landscaping problems if water is discharged poorly.
- Snow, ice, steep roof planes, trees, and heavy debris can require stronger hangers, larger downspouts, guards, heat cable planning, or more frequent cleaning.
- Gutter guards are not maintenance-free. Ask how they are cleaned, what debris voids the warranty, and whether they affect roof or gutter warranties.
Gutter replacement FAQ
What is a normal cost per foot?
Planning ranges vary widely. Vinyl and basic aluminum can be modest, while steel, copper, half-round, tall access, guards, and fascia repairs can make the installed cost per foot much higher.
Should I repair or replace gutters?
Minor leaks, loose hangers, or one damaged section may be repairable. Replacement is more likely when gutters are sagging throughout, undersized, corroded, poorly pitched, or attached to failing fascia.
Can gutters prevent water damage?
Good gutters help move roof water away from fascia, siding, foundations, walkways, and basements. They are only one part of prevention; grading, extensions, drains, roof details, and maintenance still matter.
