Methodology notes

Standard monthly

The baseline uses monthly interest and your principal-and-interest payment for the remaining term.

True biweekly

The calculator uses 26 payments per year and applies each half-payment immediately with a biweekly interest period.

DIY annual extra

The comparison adds one extra monthly principal payment every 12th monthly payment to show the simpler alternative.
